The Southeastern Oklahoma State baseball team (31-20, 28-13 LSC) rapped out 20 hits on its way to cruising to a 16-4 defeat of East Central (19-34, 16-25 LSC) on Friday afternoon in Ada, Okla.
The series will continue on Saturday with a double-header set for 2 p.m.
Luis Estrella picked up his fifth win of the season after tossing 7.0 innings and allowing three runs, two earned, on six hits with six strikeouts.
Mitch Worley threw the final 2.0 innings, allowing one unearned run on two hits.
Josh Rorex and Tyler Johnson led a total of six hitters with multi-hit outings, with Rorex and Johnson collecting four hits each.
Scott Hancock and Rorex each drove in three RBI.
Randall Clay opened the scoring with an RBI single that scored Cody Pearce, but ECU answered with a run in the bottom of the first to knot the score.
After three scoreless innings, the Tigers took a 1-0 lead with a run in the bottom of the fifth inning.
The Savage Storm answered big in the top of the sixth with eight runs.
Hancock got the scoring started with an RBI single, followed by an RBI single by Rorex for a 3-1 lead.
Ryan Bowen later drew a bases loaded walk and Johnson followed with a two-run single.
Bowen put the Storm up 7-1 on a passed ball and Johnson came around on a throwing error. Robbie Morris rounded out the inning by scoring on an error for a 9-1 lead.
ECU got one back in the bottom of the seventh, but the Storm bats came out again in the ninth inning with seven runs.
Jared Johnson drove in Rorex to get the ninth started, followed by RBI by Morris, Clay, Hancock and Rorex, and when the dust settled SOSU had mounted a 16-3 lead.
The Tigers stole one run in the bottom half to fashion the final of 16-4.
