LSU and Oklahoma are set to meet in a super regional starting Friday with a berth in the College World Series at stake.
The Sooners (43-19), who tied for third in the Big XII Conference, won four straight games en route to the league tournament title. LSU (55-9) is enjoying a record-setting season. Only two Tigers teams have won more games - the 1997 (57) and 2009 (56) clubs that won national championships.
LSU coach Paul Mainieri says playing Oklahoma is "like playing another SEC team."
Oklahoma will send Jonathan Gray (10-2) and his 1.59 ERA to the mound on Friday. He has struck out 138 batters in 119 innings. LSU counters with Aaron Nola, who is 11-0 record with a 1.82 ERA. He has 111 strikeouts in 109 innings.
