The Savage Storm spoiled Homecoming for the Rams Saturday night with a 35-0 shutout of Angelo State (3-5) at San Angelo Stadium.
Southeastern Oklahoma (3-5) used big plays on both sides of the ball to
pick up the Lone Star Conference crossover win. The Savage Storm used four takeaways and three scoring plays of 49 yards or more to give ASU its first shutout loss since the 2003 season.
SOSU quarterback Brandon McCain tossed for 206 yards on 14-of-22 passing with two touchdowns. In all, the Savage Storm had three quarterbacks throw touchdown passes to three different receivers. Daniel Nichols led SOSU wih four grabs for 153 yards and one score. Jay Rose had five catches for 99 yards and two touchdowns.
Bernard Daniel had a interception, one forced fumble and two fumble
recoveries for the Savage Storm in addition to his six tackles. Cameron
Sparks Craig Andrus each had a team-high nine stops for SOSU.
SOSU will host Northeastern State at 2:30 p.m. next Saturday while Angelo State will host nationally-ranked West Texas A&M at 6 p.m.
