Thirteenth-ranked Central Oklahoma had all five of its starters reach double figures and two ended up with double-doubles as the Bronchos bounced the East Central University Lady Tigers 86-51 Wednesday night in Lone Star Conference North women’s basketball action at the Hamilton Field House.
UCO, 19-3 overall and 9-0 in the LSC North, captured its ninth straight victory while shooting 49.3 percent for the game.
Lizzie Brenner paced the Bronchos with a game-high 17 points to go with 10 rebounds, eight assists and four steals while Ashley Beckley contributed 11 points and 11 boards. Also scoring 11 points each were Cristina Yarbrough and Rose Anderson. Mallory Markus chipped in 10 for the winners.
ECU, which fell to 7-16 and 1-8, managed to shoot just 32.1 percent for the game while committing 24 turnovers.
Senior guard Veronica Valles led the Lady Tigers with 13 points to go with five rebounds, a pair of assists and one steal. Valles knocked down 4-of-6 shots from 3-point range as ECU was 8-of-24 (33.3 percent) from outside the arc.
Lady Tiger sophomores Danielle Cox and Casi Rawls followed with 11 points apiece. Rawls also finished with four steals and two assists while Cox was 5-of-7 from the floor with one trey.
One of the few bright spots for ECU as a team was hitting 9-of-11 free throws (81.8 percent).
UCO dominated the boards by a 50-26 margin as 20 its rebounds came on the offensive end. Only eight of the Lady Tiger boards were on the offensive end.
The Bronchos had a 42-28 halftime lead and pulled away with 59.4 percent shooting in the second half.
ECU returns to action Saturday by hosting Northeastern State in LSC North play at 2 p.m. on Wayne Cobb Court inside the Kerr Activities Center.
