Tenth-ranked Central Oklahoma set a school record for 3-pointers made (28) and attempted (57) as the Bronchos rolled to a 125-64 Lone Star Conference North victory over the East Central University Tigers Wednesday night at Hamilton Field House.
UCO, 20-3 overall and 7-1 in the LSC North, shot 52.3 percent for the game and ended up 49.1 percent from 3-point range while committing only two turnovers and holding a 51-40 rebounding advantage.
Six Bronchos reached double figures in scoring, led by Eric Cazenave’s 24. He was 8-of-13 from beyond the arc and teammate Shane Carroll finished with 19 points, including 5-of-11 shooting from 3-point territory. He was 7-of-14 from the field overall.
ECU, which fell to 6-18 and 1-7, received 14 points and eight rebounds out of junior forward Justin Wilkerson. Sophomore guard Dontae Figgs and senior post Ian Adams followed with 12 points apiece and freshman Cory Nicholson contributed 10 points and six boards.
The Tigers were held to 35.5 percent shooting and managed just four treys, including two by Nicholson. ECU was only 24.1 percent from the field in the opening half, but warmed up somewhat to 45.5 in the second half.
UCO held a 68-26 halftime advantage, behind 64.1 percent shooting and hit at a 42.9 percent pace in the second half.
Also reaching double figures for the Bronchos were David Thomas with 14, Lance Harper with 12 and Victor Driver and Brent Friday with 10 apiece. Harper also pulled down 10 rebounds for a double-double.
The Tigers’ next action will be Saturday at home against Northeastern State in LSC North play at 4 p.m. on Wayne Cobb Court inside the Kerr Center.
