AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Texas reported to training camp Saturday and got a message from coach Mack Brown: Forget the system.
Forget the Bowl Championship Series formula. Forget the Big 12 tiebreaker that used the BCS ratings to send Oklahoma to the conference title game instead of Texas.
And forget the system that ultimately sent the Sooners, a team Texas beat on the field, to play for a national championship.
Quarterback Colt McCoy says the Longhorns have already pushed that out of their minds. He says there's no talk of preseason rankings or a national title - yet.
McCoy says if the Longhorns win all their games, they will get their chance.
Texas rose to No. 1 last season but a loss at Texas Tech kept the Longhorns from playing for the Big 12 title.
