Bradford out for Miami game

Oklahoma Head Football Coach Bob Stoops said today that Landry Jones will be the starting quarterback when the No. 8-ranked Sooners play Saturday at No. 17 Miami.

The team also had practiced this week with Sam Bradford, who suffered a shoulder joint sprain in the season opener against BYU.

“Sam has made daily progress, but we don't feel like he's quite where he needs to be yet,” Stoops said. “Our team has a lot of confidence in Landry’s ability and we’re looking forward to going into the game with him at quarterback. Our approach will be the same that it has been in the last two games”

Jones, a redshirt freshman, set a school record in his last outing when he threw six touchdown passes against Tulsa on Sept. 19. For the season, he is 49-of-81 for 673 yards with nine touchdowns and three interceptions.

Bradford, who won the Heisman Trophy last season, has been sidelined since incurring the injury on Sept. 5, in Arlington, Texas.

Oklahoma and Miami, both 2-1, will meet at 7 p.m., Saturday.
