Austin College senior volleyball player Shelby Eaves has been named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-America honorable mention team, the organization has announced.
Eaves, an outside hitter from Farmersville, led the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and ranked seventh in the nation in kills-per-set on the year, averaging 4.57 with 704 total kills this season. That number is the second highest single season kill total in Austin College volleyball history. She also set a new program record for career kills this season, and finishes her career with the fourth best career kill total in SCAC history.
Eaves was named the SCAC Player of the Week once this season, and was named to the All-Tournament Teams at Averett, Rhodes, and the Austin College Invitational. In addition to her kill statistics, Eaves also averaged 2.95 digs-per-set and had 37 service aces and 70 total blocks during the season. Her 495 digs were good for 10th in the SCAC. Eaves, a former SCAC Newcomer of the Year, is a two-time first team All-SCAC honoree. She was also recently named as a CoSIDA/Capitol One Academic All-District honoree.
