Aggies Sumlin can't escape Manziel questions

Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin didn't shed much light on the competition to replace star quarterback Johnny Manziel.

Sumlin's first podium question Tuesday at Southeastern Conference media days was about, What's it like to not have Manziel?

He'd already tried to head off question about the competition between sophomore Kenny Hill and highly touted freshman Kyle Allen. That question will be answered on the field not at a podium before hundreds of reporters.

The challenge remains. The Aggies must replace three NFL first-round picks, including the 2012 Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback.

Texas A&M won 20 games in its first two seasons in the SEC with a headline-hogging quarterback. Now, the Aggies get a chance to prove they can win big in the powerhouse league even without Manziel.
