Baseball Tops NWOSU 4-3 in 13 Innings

Southeastern snapped a five-game losing streak and survived a 13-inning contest to pick up a 4-3 road win over Northwestern Oklahoma State on Friday night in Alva, Okla.

The win lifts the Savage Storm to 18-16 overall on the season and 11-1 in Great American Conference play.

The teams will be back on the field at 1 p.m. on Saturday afternoon for a double-header to close out the three-game series.

Southeastern jumped out in front first in the fourth inning, starting with Evan Ramsey and Troy McCartney opening the inning with back-to-back hits.

Chevis Springer would put the first run on the board with a single to right field, plating Ramsey.

The Storm would add two more runs just two batters later when Trevor Bowen triples to right and scored McCartney and Springer for the 3-0 lead.

NWOSU would answer with a run in the bottom of the fourth on a solo homer.

The Rangers would eventually tie the game with a run in the eighth and another in the bottom of the ninth to force extra innings.

Neither team could get anything going over the 10th, 11th and 12th innings, but the Storm would get a two-out single by Ryan Salter who would follow up by stealing second.

Salter came home four pitches later when Tucker Alexander singled to left field to put SE up 4-3.

Cameron Mann would then finally close out the victory he came on to save in the ninth inning and after walking the opening batter would retire three straight to pick up his fourth win of the year.

Mann would pick up the win after tossing five innings in relief and allowing a run on three hits with six strikeouts.

Vance Woodruff got the start but finished with a no decision after tossing eight innings and allowing two runs on eight hits with six strikeouts.

Salter, Ramsey, McCartney and Springer each posted two hit outing as SE picked up 10 hits as a team.

Trevor Bowen turned in a pair of RBI, while Alexander and Springer each added one.
