Angelo State finished the 2012-13 season with a 7-19 overall mark and a 4-14 record in the Lone Star Conference. The Rams played one exhibition game this season, falling 46-65 to Texas Tech.

ASU was predicted to finish seventh in the LSC this season after losing three starters, but is returning seven players from a season ago. Like ECU, the Rams will be under the tutelage of a new head coach in Chris Beard.

The three top returners for ASU are Chris Talkington, Dakota Rawls and Bryan Hammond. Talkington tallied 10.7 points and 4.3 rebounds per game, while Rawls added 10.1 points and 4.0 rebounds per outing. Hammond contributed 9.4 points and 2.3 rebounds per game for the Rams.

The Mustangs return four of their five starters from last year’s team and will be bolstered by JaMichael Rivers and DeJuan Plummer who sat out the 2012-13 season, but were key players in 2011-12.

Monzaigo Williams is the top returner for MSU, as he averaged 12 points, 2.7 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game last season. Rivers added 10.5 points and 3.2 rebounds per game in 2011-12.

This is just the second meeting on a neutral court, with MSU earning the win the first time. The last meeting was Dec. 2, 2010 when the Mustangs earned a 36-60 win on their home court.

Tigers Picked to Finish 10th
