ECU Men's and Women's Tennis To Compete in USTA/ITA RegionalChampionship

The East Central University women’s tennis team will have their first competition of the 2013-14 season, as four individuals and two doubles sets will play in the 2013 USTA/ITA Regional Championship hosted by Southwest Baptist starting Friday, Sept. 19.

Senior Agostina Moran and juniors Bernardita Muscillo, Elizabeth Dignard and Aurelie Rodriguez will participate in the tournament in singles and doubles.

Moran will first face Jessa Richards (Augustana College) in singles and will pair with Muscillo in doubles to face Houda Bellamine and Maritna Bruzikova (Northeastern State). Muscillo will play her first single round against Darija Catipovic (Southeastern).

Dignard will start the tournament in singles against Kari Emery (Northern Kentucky) and will pair with Rodriguez to face Brittany Tobin and Ricki Racko (Southeastern). Rodriguez will open the singles tournament against Kristin Richardson (Central Oklahoma).

Men’s Tennis Starts the Season at the ITA Regional Championship

ADA – The East Central University men’s tennis team will start the 2013-14 season with six individuals and three doubles sets playing in the 2013 USTA/ITA Regional Championships hosted by Southwest Baptist, starting Friday, Sept. 19.

Junior Max DeJuan will start the tournament with a bye in the opening round after being ranked No. 6 of the 64-member field. DeJuan will pair with junior Marc Fillat in doubles and will face Thilo Schlenker and Marko Keulers (Washburn). Fillat will start the tournament facing Joaquin Aguilerra (Southeastern) in singles.

Senior Andrew Cabato will face A.J. Sutton (Southwest Baptist), senior Julian Caminos will face Tiago Ferriera (Southeastern), junior Nate Kipping will battle Neto Cacase (Northern Kentucky) and freshman Vincent Rodriguez will face Yann LeMat (Harding) in the first round of singles play.

In doubles, Caminos and Cabato will face Andreri Masin and Johannes Rebenhorst (Lindenwood) and Kipping and Rodriguez will pair to battle Bobby Florence and Chance Joost (Washburn).
