ECU Women’s Golf Finishes Fourth at GAC Preview

The East Central University women’s golf team finished fourth at the Great American Conference Preview at Lake Hefner (South). The Lady Tigers finished with a score of 641 (319-322), just 21 strokes off the leader, Southwestern Oklahoma State.

“We had the best tournament scores for us so far this fall and it was the toughest weather conditions we have faced,” said head coach Danny Key. “Every member of the team contributed and we left the course with more confidence.”

Sophomore Madison Myers moved up four spots after the first day to finish sixth individually, with a 155 (78-77). Junior Lindsey Lunceford and freshman Molli Taylor were tied for 16th. Lunceford shot a 79 and 84, while Molli Taylor shot 80 and 83 over the two rounds.

Junior Payton Taylor was one stroke behind and tied for 18th, with a 164 (82-82). Senior Megan Dutton rounded out the field for ECU, finishing 24th with a 166 (86-80).

The Lady Tigers will compete in their final tournament of the fall, Oct. 20-22 when they travel to Lawton, Okla., for the Oklahoma Intercollegiate for Women at Fort Sill Golf Course.
