Southeastern's Heim Earns National Honor

On the heels of Southeastern's 56-50 win over Southern Arkansas in the season opener, punter Jared Heim has been named the National Special Teams Player of the Week.

Heim started the week by earned Great American Conference Special Teams Player of the Week.

He averaged close to 50 yards per kick on nine punts (49.6 avg) with a 38.9 net average. He placed a pair of his punts inside the 20-yard line.

Five of his punts carried longer than 50 yards with a long of 63 yards. One of the game's turning points came on a Heim punt that was mishandled by the SAU return man and recovered by SE in Mulerider territory, leading to a score.

The Savage Storm return to action on Sept. 14 when they travel to Monticello, Ark., to face Arkansas-Monticello at 6 p.m.
