Following Southeastern's 2-2 start to the season that included wins over a pair of regional schools outside hitter Megan Kunkel has been named the Great American Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
Kunkel, the 2012 GAC Freshman of the Year, turned in a pair of double-doubles and four double-digit kill totals in the Savage Storm's four matches at the Pitt State Invitational.
She led the conference in kills per set, 4.57, and points per set, 5.00. She ranked as one of just two players in GAC to rank in the top 10 in both kills and digs per set.
Kunkel posted a weekend best 20 kills in the win over Missouri Southern State on Saturday, hitting .459 in the process. The 20 kills bested the 19 kills she posted in the very first game of the season when she hit .217 and led the Storm to a 3-1 win over Pittsburg State on their home floor.
Southeastern will be back in action Sept. 13-14 when it comes home to host the South Central Classic in Bloomer Sullivan Arena.
