The East Central University women’s basketball team will open the 2013-14 season at home and will play the first five games of the season on Wayne Cobb Court in the Kerr Activities Center. The first game of the season is set for Saturday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. against Southwestern Christian. The Lady Tigers will continue the streak with a Tuesday, Nov. 12 match-up with St. Gregory’s at 7 p.m.
ECU’s radio home for Lady Tigers basketball in 2013-14 is Ada’s KXFC, 105.5, FM ‘The X-Factor’. Kenny Morrison returns to broadcast the games for his 17th season. Morrison, a 1987 ECU graduate, spent two seasons doing color prior to taking over the play-by-play duties during the 1997-98 season.

Scouting Southwestern Christian
The Eagles have started the 2013-14 season and are 0-1 after finishing 2012-13 14-19 overall and 7-9 in conference play as a member of the NAIA. SWCU will have one more chance to pick up their first win of the season before coming to Ada, as they face Lyon College at home Nov. 8.
Jordan Gooch and Vanessa Bledsoe are the top returners for the Eagles from a season ago. Gooch averaged 9.7 points and a team-best 7.3 rebounds per game, while adding a .415 (113-of-272) shooting percentage and 39 blocks. Bledsoe tallied 9.6 points and 4.2 rebounds per outing and shot .418 (77-of-184) from the floor.
Against the Eagles
ECU and SWCU battled during the 2012-13 season, with the Eagles earning a 74-76 win on their home court (Nov. 26, 2012).
Senior Alycea Price led the Lady Tigers with 12 points and nine rebounds, while junior Taylor Fischer added nine points for the ECU returners.
Jordan Gooch is the top returner from the game for SWCU, with 14 points and 13 boards. Kim Hayes added six points and four rebounds.
While the Eagles took the win in the last outing, the Lady Tigers own a 14-2 overall record in the all-time series and have a 7-0 mark when playing in the Kerr Activities Center.
Scouting St. Gregory’s
The Cavaliers are 0-1 on the season after finishing 2012-13 with a 12-19 overall and 5-11 record in the Sooner Athletic Conference. SGU will also play one game before being the hosts of the Lady Tigers, as they face Lyon College Nov. 9.
SGU has almost a completely new team for 2013-14, with only two returning. Lee averaged 5.0 points and 2.2 rebounds per game in 2012-13. In the first game of this season, the Cavaliers had five players in double-digits in points, with Lee leading the charge with 19 points. Atoya Harris was strong on both offense and defense with 10 points and nine rebounds.
Against the Cavaliers
The Lady Tigers and SGU meet twice during the 2012-13 season, with ECU earning wins in both meetings. The Lady Tigers averaged 68.5 points per game, while allowing just 57.5.
Senior Ashley Robison is the top returner for ECU, averaging 14 points and eight rebounds per game. Senior Alycea Price added an average of 10 points and seven boards.
Stacy Lee is the only returner for SGU, averaging 6.5 points and two rebounds.
The Lady Tigers currently hold a 6-2 advantage in the all-time series with the Cavaliers, including a 3-1 mark when playing in Ada.
Lady Tigers Picked Fourth in the GAC
After finishing fifth in the Great American Conference standings in 2012-13, ECU has been picked to finish fourth in the 2013-14 GAC Preseason Poll, as voted on by the league’s head coaches.
The Lady Tigers earned 69 points in the poll. ECU improved by 11 wins in 2012-13 in going 19-9. Second-Team All-GAC forward Dilan Webster averaged 14.0 points and 7.3 rebounds in league games last season. Ashley Robison and Alycea Price also averaged at least 7.0 rebounds per game in GAC games.
The Lady Tigers will remain at home and host their first double-header of the season with the men’s team, Saturday, Nov. 16 when the women’s team hosts Rogers State at 2 p.m. and the men face Dallas Baptist at 4 p.m.
