SE Maintains Hold on No. 5 Ranking

Southeastern softball has maintained its No. 5 national ranking according to the NFCA Division II poll released on Wednesday, marking the fifth-straight week the team has held that ranking and the eighth-straight week it has been ranked in the poll.

The Savage Storm are coming off a four-game sweep of Southwestern Oklahoma State which pushing the overall record to 32-7 on the season and the Great American Conference record to 17-3 which leads the league.

SE picked up a little bit of ground in the voting with 338 points in this week's poll, up 14 points from last week.

The top six in the ranking remain unchanged from a week ago, although the Storm slightly extended its point lead over North Georgia who is No. 6, while closing the gap on No. 4 Valdosta State.

Indianapolis retains the top spot for the second-straight week with a 34-2 record on the year, while West Texas A&M is No. 2 at 30-4.

Armstrong Atlantic is third with a 30-5-1 mark on the season, while VSU is at 28-8.

While the GAC is still working to put a second team in the rankings with the Storm, the Central region is full of teams climbing the chart behind SE.

Central Oklahoma moves up two spots to No. 8 with a 27-7 season mark, while Fort Hays State makes a four-spot leap to No. 14 at 33-5 on the year.

Missouri Western dropped on spot to No. 25 at 26-10 on the year, while Minnesota State-Mankato and Minnesota-Duluth are each receiving votes in the poll.

Southeastern will be back on the diamond April 12-13 when it hosts Ouachita Baptist in the final GAC home series of the season at the Southeastern Softball Field.
