SE Opens Trip with 6-3 win over FTU

Southeastern used a strong doubles performance to jump out to a 2-1 lead over Florida Tech and pulled away with the 6-3 victory on Tuesday afternoon in Melbourne, Fla.

The win lifts the Savage Storm to 8-5 overall on the season and is a good start to its spring break trip which still includes a March 21 meeting with No. 29 Florida Southern and a March 22 matchup with No. 6 Rollins.

SE got off to its strong start thanks to the play of its No. 2 and No. 3 doubles teams, with Tiago Ferrieria and Filip Pavlovic picking up an 8-3 win at two and Laercio Lobo and Renato Joao winning at three.

The Storm nearly landed the doubles sweep, but Luka Radulovic and Martin Bedcarratz were knocked off 9-7 at No. 1.

The woes continued for Radulovic and Bedcarratz in singles play as both fell at No. 1 and 3, respectively.

However, the rest of the Southeastern lineup picked them up as Pavlovic gave the Storm a 3-2 lead at the time with a 7-5, 2-6, 7-5 win at No. 2 singles.

Lobo would later break a 3-3 tie by cruising to a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 4.

Ferrieria followed suit and assured SE of a victory with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 5 that made the score 5-3.

Joao would round out the lineup with a come-from-behind win at No. 6, taking the match 1-6, 7-5, 6-4.
