SOSU Baseball Ready to Host Rival Tigers

Southeastern enters the final series of the regular season in need of a three-game sweep of arch-rival East Central in the series beginning with a double-header on April 25 at 1 p.m. and concluding on April 26 at 1 p.m., in order to have a chance to make the Great American Conference postseason tournament.

The weekend is also the final home weekend for six Savage Storm seniors who will be playing their final games on Saturday afternoon.

SE comes into the weekend with a 20-21 record overall and an 11-16 mark in GAC play, which leaves the team three games out of the sixth place spot needed to make the trip to Enid, Okla.

The Storm would need a sweep of the visiting Tigers and possibly help from Southwestern Oklahoma State, Ouachita Baptist, or both.

SE is coming off a 2-1 series loss at SWOSU, but have put together a 4-2 mark in their last six games.

The Storm is paced by Chevis Springer offensively as he has put together a .310 average with six doubles, four triples and a home run with 14 RBI.

Cody Coats has supplied the power for SE this season with eight doubles, five homers and 25 RBI. In all, nine hitters have double digit RBI totals on the season.

On the hill, Mason Crenshaw leads the pitching staff and has put together a 6-1 record overall with nine saves in 20 relief appearances with a 2.01 ERA.

Canyon Conley leads the team with 59 strikeouts.

ECU enters the weekend with a 26-20 record overall and a 14-13 record in GAC play which is tied with SWOSU for the fifth spot in the standings.

The Tigers dropped two of their three games at Northwestern Oklahoma State and are 2-3 in their last five contests.

Andrew Ayrado leads the team in average at .437, while Luc Pomales has a team-best seven home runs and the duo of Garrett Donohoe and Josh Lavender have driven in 33 runs each.

Icezak Flemming leads the ECU pitching staff with seven wind and 105 strikeouts, while Merrick Ardoin has a team low 1.50 ERA and two saves.
