SOSU Golf Rallies for Second Place Finish

Southeastern shot the best second-round total of the tournament and made a day-two move from sixth up to second place with a two-round score of 603 at the 2014 Lions Classic in Fort Smith, Ark.

The Savage Storm posted the only second-round score under 300, firing a 298, and improvement of seven strokes off their first-round total of 305 which left them in sixth place midway through the event.

Jeff Hunter turned in the best tournament of the Storm players, firing a 72 in the second round after a 75 to open the tournament, finishing with a 147 in a tie for third place.

Marcos Sevilla Suarez was just three shot back with a total of 150 after rounds of 74 and 76, earning a tie for 10th finish.

Mason Horner turned in back-to-back round of 76 to finish tied for 14th with a 152.

Joey Schroeder finished two shots behind him after rounds of 80 and 74 to finish tied for 18th with a 154.

Matt McIntosh had a rough time on the second day, turning in rounds of 80 and 88 to card a total of 168 and finish tied for 57th.

Coleman Caldwell turned in a pair of 75's playing as an individual to finish with a 150 in a tie for 10th.

The second place finish breaks a three-tournament streak of seventh place finishes and comes against three other Great American Conference schools and a total field of 11 teams.

Cameron won the event with a 596, with Arkansas-Monticello finishing third behind SE with a 604.

Texas A&M-Commerce fired a 613 to finish fourth and Rogers State finished fifth with a 614.

The team will be back in action March 31 and April 1 when it travels to Heber Springs, Ark., for the Natural State Spring Golf Classic hosted by Harding.
