Southeastern Men Looking for Home Court Spark

Southeastern will be looking for a home court advantage to snap its current losing skid when it hosts Southwestern Oklahoma State on Jan. 9 at 7:30 p.m. and Northwestern Oklahoma State at 4 p.m. on Jan. 11 in Bloomer Sullivan Arena.

The games will be the first home contests for the team since Nov. 23 when SE picked up its last win, 65-48 over Ouachita Baptist.

The ensuing five-game road losing skid has dropped the Savage Storm record to 4-5 on the year and following a pair of close losses to open 2014 the team is currently 2-2 in Great American Conference play.

Southeastern is led by Urald King seventh in the league in scoring at 15.9 ppg and second in the conference in rebounding at 8.2 per game.

King is joined offensively by John Balwigaire who is averaging 12.7 ppg since getting a late start on the season due to an injury and Taylore Smaller who is scoring 11.7 ppg.

Smaller leads the team in assists as well at 3.6 per game.

Darius Harris joins King atop the team in rebounds with 7.7 rpg.

As a team, SE is shooting 45.1 percent from the field while holding opponents to a 40.3 percent clip, but is being outscored 67.3-to-69.3 due in part to foes scoring nearly 20 more three point buckets and making almost 30 more free throws despite the percentages on each being similar.

SWOSU comes to town in second in the league standings with a 6-4 overall record and a 3-1 mark in league play.

The Bulldogs are coming off a 63-38 win over Arkansas Tech and are led by Rod Camphor who is averaging 16.7 ppg, followed by Gary Inglett at 15.8 per game and Trent Washington at 11.3.

Inglett leads the team on the glass with 8.0 rebounds per game, while Kenyan Borders leads the way in assists at 2.8 per game.

NWOSU enters the weekend at 4-7 on the year and 1-4 in GAC play after dropping both ends of a home stand against Harding and ATU.

Bruce Wright leads the team in scoring at 12.5 ppg as well as rebounding at 7.6 per contest, while Brandon Woolley has a team best 2.1 assists per game.
