Southeastern Set to Open League Play

Following a full week break, Southeastern get back on the court looking to stay unbeaten when it opens the Great American Conference season against Henderson State on Nov. 21 at 7:30 p.m., followed by a Nov. 23 matchup with Ouachita Baptist at 4 p.m. in Bloomer Sullivan Arena.

The Savage Storm come into the weekend at 2-0 on the year after posting a 79-72 win over Missouri S&T on the road a week ago, which came after the team picked up a 64-56 win in the season opener over USAO at home.

The team features a trio of double-digit averages, led by 20.0 ppg from Taylor Smaller who has led the team in points in both outing, including a season-best 23 in the road win over MST.

He is joined in the double-figures by Urald King who is scoring 13.0 ppg and Anton Cook who is right behind at 12.0 per outing.

The Storm are averaging 71.5 ppg while holding opponents to 64.0 per contest, with that stat highlighted by the impressive 59.3 percent shooting mark the Storm have racked up as a team through two games.

SE owns a 40.0-to-32.0 edge on the glass, led by Darius Harris who is pulling down 10.5 per game while King is right behind with 9.0.

Smaller is also dishing out a team best 4.5 assists per game to lead the team.

Henderson State comes into the weekend with a 3-1 record, following up a three-game winning streak to open the season with an 84-77 loss to Arkansas-Fort Smith in its last game.

The Reddies are paced on offense by Melvin Haynes who is scoring 20.0 ppg and Deoirvay Johnson with 17.3 ppg.

Reggie Murphy leads the team in rebounds with 5.8 per game, while Haynes has is dishing out 3.3 assists per contest.

OBU comes into the weekend at 2-2 on the year, dropping its last two contests to UAFS and Rogers State after opening the season with a pair of wins.

The Tigers are averaging 93.2 ppg and are led by Colt Fason who is scoring 19.0 per night, while three others are averaging in double figures.

Fason also leads the team on the glass with 9.0 rebounds per outing, with the next closest teammate averaging 5.3 per night.

Micah Delph is leading the team in assists with 7.0 per game.
