Southeastern Takes on Miners Tonight

Southeastern men's basketball will get its first taste of regular season road competition when it travels to Rolla, Mo., on Nov. 13 to take on Missouri S&T at 7 p.m.

The Savage Storm opened the season with a 64-56 victory over Science and Arts of Oklahoma on Saturday to start the season 1-0.

In the opener, Urald King picked up where he left off two seasons ago before missing a year due to injury, turning in a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds and chipping in three blocked shots.

However, it was newcomer Taylor Smaller who led the team in scoring with 17 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the floor and a 6-of-7 effort from the free throw line. Smaller also dished out a team-high three assists.

Anton Cook came off the bench to turn in 13 points, while Trevor Jackson finished with eight.

Darius Harris matched King with 10 rebounds as the Storm held a 36-to-28 edge on the glass.

The Miners enter the midweek matchup at 1-0 on the year after a 103-83 win over Westminster College over the weekend.

Bryce Foster led the team in that outing with 28 points as a total of four players reached double figures.

He was joined by Mudi Eruteya with 19 points, Nusrath Khan at 18 and Zach Ellis with 15.

Eruteya and Michael Nesbitt led the Miners on the glass with eight rebounds each.

Khan dished out a team-high six assists, while Eruteya added five.

MS&T shot 44.3 percent from the field for the game and hit 11 threes.

Following the jaunt to Missouri, the Storm will have an eight-day break before opening Great American Conference play with Henderson State on Nov. 21 at 7:30 p.m.
