Southeastern Women Set to Face SNU

Southeastern will set out on its second-to-last road trip of the season when it heads to Bethany, Okla., for a 2 p.m. matchup against Southern Nazarene on Feb. 23.

The Savage Storm come into Saturday's game at 10-13 overall on the season with a chance to climb back to .500 on the year with three games left on the regular season schedule.

SE is 8-9 in Great American Conference play and have locked up a spot in the postseason tournament in Bartlesville, Okla., but are playing to affect their seeding. SE is currently seventh in the standings, but with SNU and Northwestern Oklahoma State ineligible for the postseason tournament, the Storm slide up to the No. 6 seed with three games to play.

While Southeastern is coming off a loss to Southwestern Oklahoma State, the team has won four-of-its-last-five outings on the season, and done so by an average of 14 points in those four games.

This will be the second times the two teams have met, with SE coming out on top in the initial meeting 77-67 just over a month ago on Jan. 19 in Durant, Okla.

In that meeting, Emily Williams came off the bench with 19 points to lead a foursome of double-digit scorers.

Bailey Welch turned in one of her best all-around performances of the season with 12 points, seven rebounds and eight assists, while Haley Schaefer added 15 points and Ronay English chipped in 11.

Welch continues to lead the team on the season with 12.6 ppg and has upped her assist per game total to 4.4 per outing.

Schaefer is also averaging in double-figures at 11.0 ppg, while also leading the team with 6.3 rebounds per game.

English and Williams are both averaging nearly 10 points per contest at 9.9 and 9.8, respectively, while Cheree Kiser has turned on the offensive production in recent weeks, lifting her per game scoring average to 8.2.

SNU comes into the weekend with a 15-9 record overall and a 12-6 mark in league play, and are in the midst of a seven-game winning streak.

The Crimson Storm are led by a threesome of double-digit scorers that are paced by Oumoul Thiam who is averaging 20.6 ppg on the year, while Annie Kassongo is adding 13.8 per game and Aminata Fall is at 11.8 per contest.

Fall paces the club on the glass with 13.1 rebounds per game, while Katie Beebe leads the team in assists with 2.6 per outing.
