Urald King and Taylor Smaller each posted 16 points, but Southeastern was unable Arkansas Tech's advantage on the offensive glass in a 63-58 loss in the Great American Conference Tournament on Thursday night in Bartlesville, Okla.
The loss ends the Savage Storm season with a 9-18 record.
Smaller and King led all scorers with 16 points each, King doing so on a 7-of-11 night from the field, while Smaller put his points on the board with a 6-of-16 shooting performance that included a 4-of-8 night from three-point range.
Darius Harris also put up double-figures, finishing with 11 on the night.
King and Harris each finished the contest with nine rebounds, but the Storm were outrebounded on the evening 42-to-34, including an 18-9 ATU edge in offensive boards.
Smaller and John Balwigaire led the team in assists with four each.
King also posted five blocks in the game.
Smaller put the Storm on the board first and the teams proceeded to trade the lead back and forth until putting together a 6-0 run capped by a Balwigaire three to take a 13-8 advantage with 13:20 to play in the first half.
ATU, however, answered with an 11-0 run that put the Storm in a 19-13 hole with 6:40 to play.
That lead would twice grow to seven points before a King jumper keyed a rally with a jumper that would eventually tie the game on a Daichi Taniguchi three at 28-28.
The Wonder Boys would get a free throw with less than a minute to play to take a 29-28 lead to halftime.
The teams traded runs to open the second half, with ATU jumping out to a six point lead followed by a 12-2 run by the Storm that was capped by a King jumper to take a 40-36 lead.
The teams would fight to four more ties over the second half, the last coming on a pair of King free throws that made the score 56-56 with 4:20 to play.
ATU would end the contest by outscoring SE 7-2 to fashion the 63-58 final score.
