Whitney Coffey and Nikki Nester combined for 27 points, but it was not enough as Southeastern dropped a 65-62 decision to Texas Woman's on Tuesday night in Bloomer Sullivan Arena.
The loss drops the Savage Storm to 3-2 on the year, while the Pioneers move to 4-0.
Southeastern will be back on the court Dec. 3 when it takes on Oklahoma Wesleyan at 5:30 p.m. in Bloomer Sullivan Arena.
Coffey led the Storm with 14 points, while Nester was right behind with 13. Haley Schaefer came off the bench to chip in 10 points.
SE was out-rebounded on the night, 39-to-32, with Nester and Ali Stone leading the way for the Storm with five each.
Nester and Bailey Welch had big assist outings, with Nester dishing out eight, while Welch was right behind with six.
After TWU opened scoring in the game, the Storm took its first lead when Coffey drained a three-pointer at the 19:33 mark of the first half.
The game would remain a back-and-forth affair until TWU turned a one-point lead into a seven-point lead at 32-25 over a two-and-a-half minute span late in the half.
SE would score the first half’s final five points on a Schaefer layup and a Natalie Ruud three-pointer to go into the locker room training 34-32 at halftime.
A Stone basket would tie the game on the first possession of the second half, but the Pioneers would regain the lead less than a minute later and never relinquish it.
The Storm would trail by as many as eight in the half, only to close the deficit to 62-60 on a Schaefer layup with 4:46 to play.
TWU would get a pair of free throws and Welch would answer with a layup with 3:44 to play to close the gap to 64-62, but that would be the final field goal as the Pioneers would add a made free throw with five seconds to set the final of 65-62.
