Texas, OU extend Cotton Bowl game to 2025

Texas and Oklahoma will play annually at Dallas' Cotton Bowl until 2025.

Officials confirmed that the two schools have agreed to a five-year extension at the historic stadium in the city's Fair Park neighborhood.

The annual game known as the "Red River Showdown" draws tens of thousands of fans of both teams during the State Fair of Texas, with Sooner red and Longhorn burnt orange split at the 50-yard line.

The athletic directors of both teams lauded the announcement.

Oklahoma Athletic Director Joe Castiglione said OU was "thrilled about preserving the rich tradition of this game." Texas Athletic Director Steve Patterson told The Dallas Morning News that the Cotton Bowl has a "tradition and feeling to playing."
