Tigers Come-Back Falls Short at Harding

Despite fighting back from a 17-point deficit to take a lead late in the second half, the East Central University men’s basketball teams come-back fell short, with an 86-92 loss to Harding at Rhodes Fieldhouse in Great American Conference action.

The Tigers (6-11, 3-8 GAC) were led by junior Chris Fisher, who tallied a career-high 24 points and added four rebounds. Junior Colby Carr garnered 16 points and junior Gregory Ardister contributed 14 as the other two ECU players in double figures in the scoring column.

“The team is very resilient and has been fighting hard over the last few games,” said interim head coach Trey Hendon. “But we just came up a little short today. We need to continue to fight and be more consistent the rest of the season.”

ECU opened the first half with a 5-1 run in the first two minutes, but saw the lead quickly disappear as the Bisons (16-3, 9-2 GAC) used a 9-0 run to take a 9-12 advantage, with 15 minutes left to play. The Tigers tied the game at 12, but another 9-1 run by Harding pushed the lead to nine with seven minutes left on the clock. The Bisons kept the pressure up through the stanza and went into the locker room with a 27-41 lead.
