East Central University softball sophomore Leah Tigert has been named the Great American Conference Player of the Week for Feb. 25 for her efforts to help the Lady Tigers to a 3-1 start in conference action at Henderson State last weekend.
Tigert notched a pair of four-hit games in the Lady Tigers’ four-game series against the Lady Reddies. She hit .688 with a 1.125 slugging percentage.
The Hennepin, Okla., native collected a home run, a triple and two doubles. She scored three runs and drove in five runs. During her current six-game hitting streak, she has recorded five multiple-hit games.
ECU will return to action this weekend when they host Arkansas Tech in the first games of the 2014 season to be played at Lady Tiger Field. A double-header is scheduled for both Friday, Feb. 28 and Saturday, March 1, with Friday’s games starting at 1 p.m. and Saturday’s at noon
