The Sherman Bearcats and Denison Yellow Jackets both began football workouts on Monday.

Denison is coming off a trip to the state semi-finals in 2009, but lost a host of starters to graduation. The Jackets expect to have several young players step in and lead the way. Denison has been picked to finish 2nd in the district by Dave Campbell's Football.

The Sherman Bearcats are coming off an 8-2 season with a first round playoff exit. Head Coach Gary Kinne has reshaped his staff after coming in late in the off-season a year ago. Campbell's picks Sherman to finish 4th, and grab the final playoff spot in 13-4A.

The teams in the new district with Sherman and Denison are: Texas High, Sulphur Springs, Royse City, Greenville, and Mount Pleasant.

The Texas high school football season kicks off on Friday, August 27th.
