Storm Volleyball breaks 11 game skid

10-9-07 - The Southeastern Oklahoma State volleyball team (5-14) got double-digit kills from Jordan Parks, Destiny Brown and Krista Stamp en route to a 3-1 win over Southern Arkansas (6-17) on Tuesday night in Bloomer Sullivan Gymnasium.

The Storm avenges a 3-2 loss to SAU from earlier this season and breaks an 11 match losing streak.

Parks, Brown and Stamp combined for 39 of Southeastern's 56 kills, as the Storm hit .175 as a team on the night.

Lindsay Ellisor led all setters with 47 assists, while four Storm players posted double-figure dig totals. Kristen Stevens led the way with 16 digs, while Mashequah Gentry posted 12. Brown completed a double-double with 12 digs, while Stamp added one with 11 digs.

"It was a nice win," said Southeastern coach Skip Freeman, "What really helped us is that we really stayed concentrated in the games we won."

The Storm opened with a 30-25 win, but the Muleriders evened the match with a 30-16 win in game two. SOSU responded, however, taking games three and four by scores of 30-20 and 30-20.

"We really controlled the game in the serve/receive," said Freeman, "And if you do that you can win."

Southeastern will now hit the road for a four-game road swing that will begin on Oct. 11 at Cameron in Lawton, Okla., at 7 p.m.
