Storm Volleyball Team rallies past Eastern New Mexico

11-1-07 - The Southeastern Oklahoma State volleyball team (7-19, 2-9 LSC) recovered from a 7-0 deficit in the fifth and deciding game to take a 16-14 win in the game and a 3-2 win in the match over Eastern New Mexico (4-25, 0-11 LSC) on Thursday night in Portales, N. M.

Destiny Brown and Jordan Parks put on a show, combining for 53 kills, with Brown notching 29 and Parks 24.

The match was back-and-forth all night, with SOSU taking the opening game 30-26 and ENMU evening the score with a 30-23 win in game two. Game three went to the Storm, 30-24, but the Zias answered with a 30-28 win in game four to send it to the decisive game five.

Crystal Trussell also chipped in on the offensive effort with 10 kills, while registering three blocks.

Defensively, Brown led the way by adding to her impressive total of double-doubles with 22 digs, while Kristen Stevens was r ight behind with 21. Mashequa Gentry chipped in 19 digs, while Krista Stamp added 17.

SOSU outkilled and outdug the Zias, 77-to-67 and 95-to-90, respectively.

Lindsay Ellisor was back in form, turning in a 58 assist performance to pace the Storm offense.

Brown's 29 kills is a season high for her, and a team high for the season.

The Storm will close out the 2007 season on Saturday afternoon with a 2 p.m. match against nationally-ranked West Texas A&M in Canyon, Texas.
