For this week's A+ Athlete, we head over to Achille High School and meet Thomas Evans.
To excel on the field and in the classroom and remain humble through it all is a skill only a few have, but for Thomas Evans it comes as second nature
"I try to be a leader, lead by example."
The Achilles senior maintains a 3.9 GPA. He’s a four-year starter for the Eagles baseball and basketball team.
"Thomas is a leader that leads by example, just goes out and does his job. I think probably that's the best way to lead. He's here everyday, works hard, does things we ask him to do, and the kids respond to that," Achille High School coach Brad McKnight says.
A guard on the court, he's never batted under .400 in his entire baseball career, and in this year's preseason he ranked number four in "A" class.
He's had a double-double his first two games.
In the classroom his head remains in his books.
"My parents always, even my coaches, always say academics come first, sports come second. Grades are more important.”
He plans on attending the University of Oklahoma and majoring in pre-med.
Congratulations to Thomas Evans on being named this week's A+ Athlete.
