COLLINSVILLE, Tex. -- This week we head over to Collinsville, Texas, to honor this week's A+ Athlete.
This week’s A+ Athlete is Brian Morgan of Collinsville High School. Not only does he make the grade, he also excels on the field.
But his true passion isn't in either of the two- it's in his extra curricular activities.
The Collinsville senior is very involved with one-act plays in the area. His team has placed third in the state.
Music is also a big part of Brian’s life, and juggling all of these activities is difficult.
"Time management is a very hard aspect. Being involved with a lot of things complicates things," Brian says.
On the field, court, and greens, Brian is very active.
A defensive and running back for the Pirates football team, Brian is a leader on the field.
"You look for guys that stand out that lead by example. He's going to have his work done, you'll find him in the library working on college courses, or has his book or headed to study hall," Coach Mike Segleski says.
In the classroom, teachers respect him as well. The honors student maintains a 3.8 GPA and is ranked second in the class.
"Knowledge is a choice. I understand that. I believe being successful at academics is important reading and stuff people don't like to do," Brian says.
Congratulations to Brian Morgan on being named this week's A+ Athlete.
We'll introduce you to another A+ Athlete every Friday here on First News AM. School officials, coaches, teachers, and counselors are encouraged to send in your nominees.
