Pope's 17 points not enough in Storm loss to Cameron

1-30-08 - The Southeastern Oklahoma State men's basketball team (3-16, 0-4 LSC-N) got a career-high 17 points from Nate Pope but it was not enough to overcome a 37.5 percent shooting night in a 71-55 loss to Cameron (4-15, 2-2 LSC-N) on Wednesday night in Lawton, Okla.

Will Robinson joined Pope in double figures with 11, while Ken Reed led the Savage Storm with even rebounds.

The Aggies jumped to a 5-0 lead before a Pope layup cut the score to 5-2 early in the half.
CU pushed out to a 10 point lead at 16-6, but SOSU answered and trimmed the deficit to 18-14 with 9:08 to play on a Pope dunk.

The teams traded buckets before Cameron pushed its lead out to 32-19, but SOSU cut into that slightly to end the half trailing 34-25.

After Robinson hit a bucket to start the second half, the Aggies pushed their lead out to 40-27 by the 18:14 mark.

The teams traded buckets until SOSU trimmed the deficit down to 50-43 on a Pope layup with 11:28 to play.

CU answered, however, outscoring the Storm over the final 11 minutes 21-12 to fashion the final score of 71-55.
