2-6-08 - The Southeastern Oklahoma State men's basketball team (3-18, 0-6 LSC-N) put three players in double figures, but were unable to overtake East Central (12-9, 2-4 LSC-N) on the road, falling 83-73 in Ada, Okla., on Wednesday night.
Kyric Rambo paced the Savage Storm with 19 points on the strength of five three pointers.
JR Moody chipped in 16 points on the night, while Ken Reed found his touch again with 14.
Reed led the team on the glass with six rebounds, while Moody and Rambo each dished out four assists.
SOSU outshot the Tigers in all three shooting aspects, hitting 45.5 percent from the field, 45.5 percent from three and 68.4 from the charity stripe.
The difference in the game was rebounding, especially on the offensive glass. ECU held a 44-to-29 advantage on the boards overall and a 21-to-9 edge on the offensive end.
The Storm struck first and held a lead until the 15:38 mark when the Tigers got a three.
SOSU tied the score at 10-10, but ECU reeled off 11 straight to mount a 21-10 lead with 12:03 to play in the half.
The Storm stopped the bleeding, but were unable to close the gap with the teams trading buckets until the Tigers finished the half with a 48-36 lead.
Southeastern fought back in the second half, closing the gap to 61-53 with 11:24 remaining, but were unable to hold the momentum.
Two more times down the stretch they would close the deficit to single digits, but the Tigers found a bucket each time and held on to fashion the final score of 83-73.
Southeastern will be back in action on Saturday when it hosts Northeastern State at 8 p.m. in Bloomer Sullivan Gymnasium.
