2-26-08 -- The Dallas Mavericks signed center Jamaal Magloire, the team announced on Tuesday.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Magloire played 24 games for the New Jersey Nets this season, averaging 1.8 points and 3.4 rebounds in limited minutes.
In his eighth NBA season, the 6-11 Magloire has career averages of 8.7 points and 7.3 rebounds with four different teams. He was named an All-Star in 2004 while with the New Orleans Hornets.
The 29-year-old Magloire will be the latest new addition to the Mavericks, who acquired All-Star point guard Jason Kidd from the Nets in an eight-player deal prior to last Thursday’s trade deadline.
Magloire should provide reinforcement off the bench for Dallas, which gave up reserve center DeSagana Diop in that deal. Diop’s absence left the Mavericks without a defensive presence off the bench.
