NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - For the second time in a week, Oklahoma has
lost a defensive end for the season. Sophomore Alonzo Dotson has been ruled academically ineligible, and will not be able to play this season. He joins starter Larry Birdine on the sidelines.
Birdine tore a biceps muscle in practice and had surgery on Thursday. He's expected to recover, but will not play this season. That leaves senior Calvin Thibodeaux and junior college transfer CJ Ah You as the likely starters, and sophomore John Williams also in the rotation.
The Sooners had already lost both of their starters from lastseason. Dan Cody was drafted to play in the N-FL, and Jonathan Jackson exhausted his eligibility.
The two combined for 18 sacks last season.
