Smiley Leaves Valley View

The Valley View Eagles are looking for a new head football coach and athletic director. After two years as the head coach, Scott Smiley has taken the head coaching job at Fort Worth Christian.

Smiley worked one year as an assistant at Valley View before taking over the program in 2006. He coached the team to a 5-5 record in his first year. Then led the Eagles into the playoffs with a 10-2 overall record in 2007.

"They didn't make it easy on me," Smiley said. "This is not an easy place to leave. It would be one thing if I didn't like it here. But we have great kids, and this is a great place to coach."

Smiley leaves next week to begin preparation for spring football at Ft. Worth Christian. In the meantime, Valley View will begin their coaching search.
