Oklahoma forward Blake Griffin announced Wednesday that he will return to school for his sophomore season.
The 6-10, 240-pound Griffin is coming off one of the most productive freshman seasons in Sooners’ history. He averaged team highs of 14.7 points and 9.1 rebounds per game while shooting a team-best 56.8 percent from the field.
Griffin ranked ninth in the Big 12 Conference in scoring, fourth in rebounding and third in field goal percentage.
“Our team has a chance to be really good next season,” Griffin said. “We want to be one of the top teams in the country and make a statement with what we’re trying to do as a program.”
Oklahoma posted a 23-12 record last season, losing to Louisville, 78-48, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
