MADILL, Okla. -- To honor this week's A+ Athlete, we head to Madill High School and meet Chase Dennis. Christina Melvin reports.
This week’s A+ Athlete is Chase Dennis from Madill High School. Chase plays practically every sport for the wildcats. He earned Infielder of the Year in baseball, Defensive Player of the Year in basketball, All-District Honors in football, and he even earned a state medal in track for the 320-meter relay. He's great at all of it, but his favorite is basketball.
Chase represents himself quite well in the classroom. He has worked hard to keep a 4.0 grade point average through all of high school even with AP courses. Chase is a member of the Beta Club and National Honor Society. He's a senior class officer and a Boys State delegate.
Church is also an important part of chase’s life. He is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and also went on a mission trip to Eastern Europe to teach sports to underprivileged children.
Chase plans to study biology or chemistry at Southeastern Oklahoma State University next year. He says he wants to go on to graduate school in hopes to become a dentist.
Although Chase is ready for the next level, Madill sure will miss him.
Congratulations to Chase Dennis from Madill High School on being named this week’s A+ Athlete.
We'll introduce you to another A+ Athlete every Friday here on First News AM. School officials, coaches, teachers, and counselors are encouraged to send in your nominees.
