Source: McBroom to Ardmore

The Ardmore Tigers coaching search appears to be over. According to KXII sources, the school board has called a special meeting to vote on former Ada Cougars coach Larry McBroom.

McBroom has an outstanding resume which includes 7 state championships in Ada. Since leaving Ada, McBroom has coached at Mt. Pleasant, Texas, and R.L. Turner in Carrollton. With the rich tradition the McBroom family has at Ada, it may be difficult for some to imagine him coaching at Ada's biggest rival high school. Larry, his brother Gary, and father Craig McBroom have a long coaching legacy in Ada. The family has been in charge of Ada football for 43 of the last 49 years. McBroom won 199 games in two separate stints with the Cougars from 1980 to '95 and 2000 to 2003.

The board will meet on Thursday afternoon to vote. The Tigers are replacing Mike Loyd, who left to take a head coaching job in Florida.

KXII will have more details as they become available.
