Ada Senior Finalist for High School Heisman

11-14-05 - An Ada High School Athlete got quite a surprise Monday when she was named a National Finalist for the High School Heisman Award.

The award has been around for 11 years, and today it's focus was on Kayli Edwards.

The Ada senior got a big surprise at a school-wide assembly when representatives with the Wendy's High School Heisman Award told her she was one of the 12 finalists nationwide.

She was chosen among 14,000 students thanks to her excellence in academics, athletic ability, and community involvement.

The next step is a December 9th trip to New York City for the Collegiate Heisman weekend festivities which ends in the announcement of the award on December 11th.

Wendy's will choose two winners, one male and one female, to take home $2,500 for their high school. That award is on top of the $1,000 she earned for Ada High School by becoming a finalist.
