Former SOSU standout to be Phillies bullpen coach

DURANT, Okla. (AP) - A Southeastern Oklahoma standout will assume the duties of Philadelphia Phillies bullpen coach Roly de Armus while de Armus accompanies Team USA to the Olympic Games in
Beijing, China.

Greg Legg presently serves as hitting coach for Philadelphia's Class-A affiliate, the Lakewood BlueClaws. Legg will miss about three weeks, since the Olympic medal round is set for August 23rd.

Legg played baseball for Southeastern from 1979 to 1982. He played on four teams that made it to the NAIA College World Series, and was an NAIA All-American in 1980 and 1982.

This is Legg's first trip to the major leagues as a coach. He has been with the Phillies since he was drafted by the club in 1982.

The former infielder played briefly for Philadelphia in 1986 and 1987 appeared in 14 games with a career average in the majors of .405 (9-for-22).
