DURANT, OK – Former Durant high school quarterback Bo White has traded in the crimson of the University of Oklahoma for the blue and gold of Southeastern Oklahoma State.
White officially enrolled at Southeastern last week and hopes to be on the field for the Storm by the start of this week. White originally made a verbal commitment to SOSU, but received a call the day before Signing Day from the Sooners, who wanted to bring him on as a non-scholarship walk-on.
White says after a couple of practices in Norman, he realized he wouldn’t be getting the playing time he was looking for and made the choice to leave OU and come home to Durant.
“At the last minute OU called and talked about the whole walk-on thing and all so I figured I might as well try it so I wouldn’t have any regrets,” says White. “I went up there and tried it and found out it wasn’t for me so I’m happy with my decision.”
White also says SOSU head coach Ray Richards told him before he left; he would be welcomed back to Durant if he changed his mind.
