Ardmore assistant coach involved in pressbox scuffle

ARDMORE, Okla. (AP) - A fight between Guthrie and Ardmore assistant football coaches broke out in the press box after an Ardmore player was injured late in the third quarter.

Ardmore senior Shawn Smith was injured on a kickoff last night and lay still on the field as paramedics rushed to check his injury. While paramedics examined Smith, an assistant coach from Guthrie, who was in the press box, allegedly celebrated the hard hit.

Ardmore linebackers coach Paul Smith, Shawn's father, and the Guthrie assistant began screaming at each other while media and others in the press box restrained them.

Security guards were called to the press box, where they remained until the end of the game.

Both coaches declined to comment on the incident.
