The Texas Rangers on Thursday signed right-handed pitcher Brandon McCarthy to a one-year contract.
Financial terms were not disclosed. McCarthy had been eligible for arbitration for the first time.
McCarthy, 25, spent much of the season on the disabled list with right forearm inflammation. He made just five starts, going 1-1 with a 4.09 ERA.
In four seasons, McCarthy has a record of 13-20 with a 4.54 ERA. He went 5-10 in 2007, his first season with the Rangers.
Texas still has three remaining arbitration-eligible players: outfielder Marlon Byrd, right-handed pitcher Frank Francisco, and left-handed pitcher C.J. Wilson.
