Incarnate Word to join Lone Star Conference

ADA – The Lone Star Conference is growing to a 16-member league.

It was announced Tuesday that the University of the Incarnate Word (Texas) will join the LSC and begin competition in the fall of 2010.

The presidents at all 15 of the current LSC schools, including East Central University, voted unanimously in favor of UIW to join the league.

The Cardinals actually launch their football program this fall and will play an independent schedule before competing in the LSC in 2010. ECU is in contract negotiations with playing UIW this fall.

Other members of the LSC besides ECU include: Abilene Christian, Angelo State, Cameron, Central Oklahoma, Eastern New Mexico, Midwestern State, Northeastern State, Southeastern Oklahoma State, Southwestern Oklahoma State, Tarleton State, Texas A&M-Commerce, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Texas Woman’s and West Texas A&M.
