DAVIS, OK – It’s time to reveal this week's A+ Athlete. For that, we head on up to the Arbuckles and Davis High School where we meet a four sport star and a top notch student.
It’s not too often a freshman gets to start in a football state championship game. This week's A+ Athlete John Collette did just that and now four years later, he has become the leader of the pack.
But head football coach Jody Weber will be the first to say that John is destined for something great. The senior is the quarterback for the Davis football team and was named district 2A-4 MVP, but he takes no credit for his accomplishments.
In addition to football, John is the captain of the basketball team, leads the baseball team in hitting and is a state qualifier in track; all of it while playing for a school he has known as his life.
John has also had success off the field. He has a 4.0 GPA, is the senior class co-valedictorian and is a candidate for the Oklahoma Academic Scholar of the Year Award.
John isn't sure what he'll do after he graduates, but one thing is for sure. He will never forget about his days at DHS
Congratulations to John Collette on being named this week’s A+ Athlete.
We'll introduce you to another A+ Athlete every Friday here on First News AM. School officials, coaches, teachers, and counselors are encouraged to send in your nominees.
--must be a senior..
--must be nominated through the student’s school district- not a parent.
