Southeastern’s (6-1) Benita Sanchez has been name the Most Valuable Player from the St. Mary’s Tournament held Feb. 6-7 in San Antonio, Texas.
Additionally, Bailey Mathes and Marjorie Johnson were named to the all-tournament team following the Savage Storm’s 4-1 weekend.
Sanchez hit .688 for the tournament, collecting hits on 11-of-16 at bats. She also hit for power, pounding a pair of home runs and adding a pair of doubles. She also drove in seven runs.
Mathes was not far behind Sanchez, hitting .529 on the tourney with nine hits in 17 at bats. She also posted three doubles and drove in four runs.
Johnson was recognized for her work in the circle, winning a pair of games and posting a 0.98 ERA in her three appearances, including a shutout. She tossed 14.1 innings and allowed just two runs on three hits. She also struck out 27 batters which averages to nearly two batters per inning.
Southeastern will be back in action on Feb. 10 when it heads to Texas Woman’s for a double header beginning at 5 p.m.
